Sym Studio was established in 2009 by Conrad Grayson, a registered Landscape Architect with over 30 years of experience in Australia and the United States. The practice operates as a boutique consultancy, delivering senior level expertise across the full project lifecycle from planning documentation and DA submission through to construction delivery.
We are prequalified as a Design Excellence service provider with the NSW Government Architect, and Conrad Grayson has served as an expert witness in the NSW Land and Environment Court — credentials that reflect the technical rigour and planning credibility central to our practice.
Our documentation practice is built on deep familiarity with local planning controls across nine NSW local government areas, including Ku-ring-gai, Northern Beaches, Hornsby, Woollahra, Camden, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Port Macquarie-Hastings, and Lake Macquarie. We understand not just the legislative framework that governs landscape submissions, but the practical requirements and preferences of each council —reducing the risk of resubmission and the holding costs that follow.
Sym Studio maintains specialist expertise in dementia friendly design, aged care landscape environments, and learning landscapes — areas where design quality has direct and measurable impact on human health outcomes.
